WSTC Event Course Maps
All of the WSTC events are held along the Altona Beach Foreshore (both Duathlons and Triathlons). Transistion is set up to the east of the club rooms along side the finish chute.
Triathlon Course Map
The Triathlon course consists of 3 primary races distances, Sprint, Enticer and Dash. You can click on the map to enlarge to view the courses outlined below.
Swim Course Outline
Sprint: Starting from the east side of the Altona pier in waist deep water (generally a wave start), the Sprint swim will go outward between the pier and the no boating pole to a bouy located approx 200m offshore. Swimmers round the bouy and progress west towards the no boating pole lacated to the west side of the Altona beach. Upon arriving at the pole swimmers will round it in a counter clockwise fashion and swim back east to a bouy located approx halfway in between the poles where they will round it clockwise and swim back into shore where the WSTC tear flags are located and head up the beach into transition. There will be marshals to assist in directions. The total distance of the Sprint swim is 750m.
Enticer: Starting from the east side of the Altona pier in waist deep water (generally a wave start), the Enticer swim will go outward between the pier and the no boating pole to a bouy located approx 200m offshore. Swimmers round the bouy in an anti-clockwise direction and head back to shore where the WSTC tear flags are located on the foreshore and head up to transition. There will be marshals to assist in directions. The total distance of the Sprint swim is 400m.
Dash: Starting from the east side of the Altona pier in waist deep water (generally a wave start), the Dash swim will go outward toward the no boating pole to the east of the pier and round the pole in an anti-clockwise direction and head back to shore to the WSTC tear flags and head up to transition. There will be marshals to assist in directions. The total distance of the Sprint swim is 300m.
Bike Course Outline
All Events: Exiting transition in a westerly direction, athletes will continue along the Esplande past Pier St and continue to Maidstone St where there will be a turning bollard in which riders will round in a clockwise direction and head back east to transition. Riders will continue past transition and continue on the Esplande to approx. Station St where another bollard will be positioned for rounding in a clockwise direction and returning back west to transition. When the rider has reached transition this will be considered 'a lap' of the bike course. Sprint distance is 18.75km and will require three (3) laps, Enticer is 12.5km and is two (2) laps with Dash being 6.25km and thus only the one lap. At the conclusion of the required laps riders will enter transition ensuring they have dismounted at the sign at entry to transition.
Run Course Outline
Sprint: Runners will exit transition and turn left and head up to the footpath to the Esplanade where another left turn to head east along the path. This will be a 1km out and back to transition where runners will continue past transition (west) for another 1.5km where a turn sign will be positioned. Runneers turn and head back to transition and cross the finish line. The run in total is 5km.
Enticer: Runners will exit transition and turn left and head up to the footpath to the Esplanade where they will turn right and head west along the path until they reach the turn sign 1.5km out, then turn back and head to transition and cross the finish line. The run for the Enticer is 3km.
Dash: Runners will exit transition and turn left and head up to the footpath to the Esplanade where they will turn right and head west along the path until they reach the Dash turn sign 1km out, then turn back and head to transition and cross the finish line. The run for the Enticer is 3km.
Duathlon Course Map
The Duathlon course also consists of 3 primary races distances, Sprint, Enticer and Dash. You can click on the map to enlarge to view the courses outlined below.
First Run Course Outline
Sprint: Athletes will start the Duathlon with a run which will start opposite the transition area under the Race Directors orders. Sprint competitors will commence the run heading in the easterly direction for a 1km out and back route to transition where athletes will pass transition and continue on to the turning bollard 1.5km down the Esplande where they will turn and head back to transition. Marshals will be available to assist in directions at transition. First run for Sprint distance is 5km.
Enticer: Athletes will start the Duathlon and head west to the turning bollard 1.5km along the Esplande at which the will turn and return to transition. First run for Enticer distance is 3km.
Dash: Athletes will start the Duathlon and head west to the turning bollard marked 'Dash Turn' and return to transition. First run for Dash distance is 2km.
Bike Course Outline
